Fujifilm XE-2 mirrorless camera launched in India

Fujifilm India has launched the X-E2, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that comes with the APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor. The company claims that the camera has the world's fastest AF speed.

According to Fujifilm, the camera delivers enhanced colour reproduction, higher definition image capture, and AF speed of 0.08 seconds. The fast AF speed is achieved by more than doubling the processing speed of the EXR Processor II. The camera harnesses information taken from over 100,000 phase detection pixels incorporated in the X-Trans CMOS II sensor.

The camera also boasts of hybrid AF that combines phase detection AF and contrast AF for accuracy while shooting low-contrast subjects and dark scenes.

The camera's 16.3MP APS-C sized X-Trans CMOS II Sensor incorporates an original color filter array.

As per Fujifilm, the quality of images is further improved by the Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO). The LMO's high-precision processing of the various lens parameters, as well as data from the screen centre to the edges, corrects diffraction blur when shooting with a stopped down aperture and compensates for the slight blurring in the lens periphery for edge-to-edge image quality with enhanced sharpness. The LMO will be compatible with every XF lens.

The camera is capable of shooting Full HD video (1920x1080) up to 60fps and Fujifilm claims that the AF tracking performance in movie mode has been improved with better focusing speed, accuracy and smoothness. Quick focusing on the subject is possible in a variety of situations, such as when panning and zooming, or when the subject moves closer to or further from the camera.

It comes with in-built WiFi for transferring images wirelessly to a smartphone or tablet through the free Fujifilm Camera Application app

The camera features an aperture ring on the lens and shutter dial on the top of the body similar to its predecessor allowing full shooting control while keeping the user's eye to the viewfinder.

The X-E2 is available in solid black or two-tone black and silver and has been priced at Rs 76,999 for the body and Rs 1,09,999 with XF18-55mm kit lens.
