While things are fiercely competitive in the Indian telecom market in the form of data offers, cashbacks among other things, the direct-to-home (DTH) market has been relatively quiet till now. However, Reliance Digital TV has launched a new set-top box that could make things interesting. The company has unveiled a HD HEVC set-top box for the Indian consumer market.
This newly-launched set-top-box comes with one year of free content of HD channels and up to 500 free-to-air channels free of cost for 5 years.
The set-top box is available on pre-booking on March 1 from 10AM for a limited time period on reliancedigitaltv.com for Rs 499. After that, users will have to pay the balance amount of Rs 1,500 once they receive the set-top box and outdoor unit.
To make the effective price zero, customers will have to claim loyalty, for which they will need to recharge it monthly for an amount of Rs 300 from second-year onwards for all pay-to-air channels for a period of next 2 years continuously. After this, they will get back Rs 1,999 as a loyalty in form of recharge.
